We’ve shared several accessible vehicle deliveries recently, but this is the first time we’ve featured a Ram ProMaster upfit.
Recently delivered to a human-services organization, this 2025 Ram ProMaster 3500 has space for three wheelchairs and combines a rear-mounted wheelchair lift with fold-away passenger seating. Open the doors, and you can see how the interior makes room for different transportation needs.
Start With the Van
This 2025 Ram ProMaster 3500 provides the foundation for an accessible passenger conversion. The van has a 159-inch wheelbase, a 3.6-liter V6 engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive.
Its driver equipment includes a backup camera, blind-spot and cross-path detection, adaptive cruise control, and power-folding heated mirrors. These are practical details to consider alongside the passenger layout when specifying a vehicle for daily transportation.
From the outside, you can see its high-roof body, large passenger-area windows, sliding side door, and wide-opening rear doors. A running board extends beneath the side entry.
For this application, the van’s interior space is an important part of the story. Headroom, door openings, and room to assist passengers all deserve consideration when planning an accessible vehicle.
How Do Fold-Away Seats Make the Interior More Flexible?
Fold-away seats stow upright to free floor space for wheelchair accommodation and movement through the van. In this ProMaster, the two double seats fold away while the two single-passenger seats remain fixed.
Inside, the seating is a feature worth a closer look: two Freedman GO ES two-passenger fold-away seats, plus two Freedman GO ES fixed single-passenger seats. Both seat styles have three-point belts with integrated shoulder belts.

The fold-away seats can be lowered when needed for seated passengers. This gives the organization flexibility to plan for different trips within the vehicle’s approved configuration.
How Many Wheelchairs Can This Ram ProMaster Accommodate?
This delivered 2025 Ram ProMaster 3500 has space for three wheelchairs. Wheelchair capacity varies by upfit, and the combination of wheelchair and seated passengers must follow the vehicle’s approved seating and securement layout.
Four rows of L-track run through the passenger area, with three Q’Straint Q8300-A1-L MAX securement systems, retractable shoulder belts, and dedicated storage containers. Seating, wheelchair positions, and securement equipment work together as parts of the complete interior.
It’s about more than fitting seats into a van. The layout needs to account for passengers, mobility devices, securement equipment, and the staff who assist them.
What Accessibility Equipment Does This Van Include?
This ProMaster’s accessible upfit combines a rear wheelchair lift, three Q’Straint securement systems, L-track, fold-away seating, grip steps, and a grab pole. Passenger heating and cooling complete the transportation-focused interior.
Rear Wheelchair Access and a Separate Side Entry
A rear-mounted Braun NCL919-2 wheelchair lift provides access through the rear doors. The conversion also includes a lift interlock.
The sliding side door offers a separate entrance, supported by an extended 100-inch passenger-side grip step. A separate grip step at the driver’s door and a stainless-steel grab pole are also part of the upfit.

Looking through the rear doors gives a clear view of the lift and the passenger compartment beyond it. With the folding seats stowed, you can better see the space available inside.
Lift location is an important planning decision. A rear-entry configuration requires space behind the van to deploy the lift and assist a passenger. Pickup locations, parking conditions, and daily routes all help determine which arrangement makes sense.
Passenger Comfort and Everyday Equipment
The conversion includes a ceiling-mounted passenger climate system rated at 35,000 BTU for air conditioning and 30,000 BTU for heat, with a heat booster pump. Passenger-area heating and cooling deserve attention when a commercial van is converted for people rather than cargo.
The interior uses ABS wall and headliner panels, a steel subfloor, and an Advantech subfloor with a black Altro floor covering. The equipment package also includes a backup alarm, a five-pound fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit, and warning triangles.
Plan Around the People Who Will Use It
For human-service organizations, the right accessible vehicle starts with practical questions:
- Who will travel in the vehicle?
- What mobility devices need to be accommodated?
- How might passenger needs change between trips?
- Where will staff need room to assist?
- What boarding space is available at regular pickup locations?
Those answers help guide the choice of van, lift, seating, and interior layout.
This Ram ProMaster is a useful example of how fold-away seating and wheelchair access can come together in one vehicle.
Can You Lease a Wheelchair-Accessible Ram ProMaster?
Yes. Capital Lease Group helps organizations source and lease wheelchair-accessible Ram ProMaster vans configured for their passengers and daily operations. The vehicle, lift, seating, and securement layout are considered together when planning the upfit.
By considering the base vehicle and upfit together, we can help organizations explore options that suit their passengers and daily operations. We can often include the upfit in the vehicle lease with no additional down payment for that upfit.
